Water Temperature Sensor QC CG

Water Temperature Sensor QC CG series is a thermistor-based water temperature sensor. It is connected in series with the automobile's water temperature gauge circuit. Based on sensing the temperature of the water inside the engine cylinder water jacket, it automatically adjusts its resistance value. This dynamically measures the engine water jacket's water temperature to enable the driver to promptly understand whether the operating temperature of the cooling water inside the engine water jacket is normal.
Application:
Water cold type motorcycle, sandy beach car and it transforms car etc…
Material:
1. Sensing Element (Core Component)
NTC Thermistor: Made of metal oxide ceramics (typically manganese, nickel, and cobalt composites) for resistance-based temperature measurement.
PTC Thermistor: Uses barium titanate-based ceramics for self-regulating temperature detection.
KTY Sensor (Silicon-based): Consists of doped silicon for linear output, commonly found in German vehicles (e.g., Bosch sensors).
2. Probe & Housing (Structural Components)
Probe Tip: Stainless steel (Grade 304 or 316L) for corrosion resistance in coolant/antifreeze mixtures.
Threaded Body: Brass (CuZn39Pb3) for thermal conductivity and sealing compatibility with engine blocks.
Hex Nut: Chromed steel or brass for tool engagement and durability.
3. Electrical & Insulation Materials
Lead Wires: Nickel-plated copper with PTFE (Teflon) or fiberglass insulation (heat-resistant up to 200°C).
Internal Sealing: Borosilicate glass (glass-to-metal seal) or epoxy resin for waterproofing (IP67/IP69K rated).
Filler Material: Magnesium oxide (MgO) powder for electrical insulation and thermal stability.
4. Connector & External Parts
Connector Housing: High-temperature plastics (PPS or PA66 nylon) resistant to oils and coolants.
O-Rings: FKM (Viton®) or EPDM rubber for leak-proof sealing in coolant systems.
5. Compliance & Standards
SAE J2347 (NTC thermistor performance).
ISO 13044 (automotive sensor durability).
ASTM B36 (brass corrosion resistance in coolants).
How to select water temperature Sensor for motorcycle?
Selecting a water temperature sensor for a motorcycle involves considering several factors to ensure it meets the specific requirements of the vehicle's cooling system and provides reliable temperature monitoring. Here’s a guide to help you choose the right water temperature sensor:
Factors to Consider:
Compatibility:
Vehicle Make and Model: Ensure the temperature sensor is compatible with your motorcycle’s make and model. Different motorcycles may have varying requirements for sensor specifications and mounting options.
Sensor Type: Typically, motorcycles use thermistor-based sensors for water temperature monitoring. Ensure the sensor type matches the system requirements of your motorcycle.
Temperature Range:
Determine the operating temperature range of your motorcycle’s cooling system. Choose a sensor that can accurately measure temperatures within this range. Motorcycle engines can operate at varying temperatures depending on conditions, so the sensor should be capable of handling these fluctuations.
Accuracy and Sensitivity:
Opt for a sensor that offers good accuracy in temperature measurement. This ensures that the motorcycle’s cooling system operates efficiently and that the rider receives accurate temperature readings for monitoring.
Durability and Environmental Resistance:
Motorcycles operate in diverse environmental conditions, including exposure to vibrations, moisture, and varying temperatures. Choose a sensor that is durable and resistant to these environmental factors to ensure long-term reliability.
Look for sensors with robust construction and possibly IP ratings that indicate resistance to dust and water ingress.
Mounting and Installation:
Consider the mounting options available on your motorcycle for installing the temperature sensor. Some sensors come with specific mounting configurations (such as threaded or bolt-on designs) that may need to match the motorcycle’s cooling system layout.
Ensure the sensor’s physical dimensions and mounting method are compatible with your motorcycle’s available space and design.
Integration with Dashboard or Display:
If your motorcycle has a dashboard or digital display that shows temperature readings, ensure the sensor’s output is compatible with these systems. Compatibility with the motorcycle’s electrical system and instrumentation is essential for accurate and convenient temperature monitoring.
Brand and Quality:
Choose temperature sensors from reputable brands known for quality and reliability. Reliable sensors help ensure accurate temperature monitoring and minimize the risk of sensor failures or inaccuracies.
Steps to Select:
Research: Check motorcycle forums, manufacturer specifications, and user reviews to gather information on suitable temperature sensors for your motorcycle model.
Consultation: If unsure, consult with motorcycle mechanics or technicians who have experience with temperature sensor installations and motorcycle cooling systems.
Installation: Follow manufacturer instructions for installation to ensure proper functioning and integration with your motorcycle’s cooling system and instrumentation.
By considering these factors, you can select a water temperature sensor that meets the specific requirements of your motorcycle, ensuring reliable temperature monitoring and optimal performance of the cooling system.
